Education

The Klukwan School is the home of 42 students and is a part of the Chatham School District. Tribal activities, such as a Watershed Conference held in 2001, and the Long House Celebration in September of 2004, encourage a strong relationship between the school, the community, and its government. The tribe’s Language Restoration Program has also assisted the school by placing several Village Elders, Tlingit Language Teachers and Language Apprentices in the classrooms to assist with language instruction. Klukwan students also participate in different activities of the Klukwan Traditional Knowledge Camp.

The Community Library is now open year round to all ages.
